MANOR GENERATOR

Version 1.1

This is an on-line tool to generate Hârnic Manors. For a meaning of terms unclear refer to Columbia Games ``HârnManor'' publication. This tool assumes you are passingly familiar with the rules and terms specified therein.

Use the form below to specify as much as you want. Come back to the top and choose among the formats given. Everything left blank will be randomly generated or set to a default value. Some entries do not make much sense when they default, but that is your option. Here are some more hints:

  • The FORM option below can be used to fine-tune the output of the script. Otherwise passing the output back into script can be considered a conversion into another format.

  • If you want an empty field, then enter a blank space or a dash. This should give you what you want. Truely empty fields will be randomly generated.

  • There are keywords that will perform special action, e.g. ``Warhorse'' in the `Name/Occupation' section will enter a 1800 in the cost column (if that was left empty). All keywords are capitalized. Here are those that may not be obvious:

     "Lady-in-waiting", "Sage/Tutor", "Lord's Kennel",
"Lord's Falconry", "Light Foot", "Yeoman (LF)", "Yeoman (LB)",
     "(Craftsman, GM)", "Ivinia"
  • Anybody except those whose names carry ``Bailiff'' in them is considered a normal vassal with respect to feudal payment.

  • A ratio of 1:1 between pasture and field is assumed. Where values of the previous year are required they are assumed to be identical to this year's values.

  • The script has a certain order and it does not calculate backwards, e.g. if you specify cash in ``privy purse'' the script will not work out a distribution of income and expenses that will fit - it will just not recalculate ``privy purse''. Order of calculation is straight forward.

  • Two caveats: If you specify more than two wifes (e.g. for Ivinians), the cost for all secondary wifes is not reduced as per rules. If a herald is specified, his nobility is randomly determined, the odds are 1:1. In neither case does the herald count toward the number of palfreys supported, if generated. If you encounter one of these situations, preroll the questionable numbers and fill them in by hand or correct them in the filled-out FORM sheet.

Important Note: The output generated is subject to the GPL (Gnu Public License) as long as compliance with this license does not violate rights held by Columbia Games Inc. or N. Robin Crossby.
