This is an on-line tool to generate Hârnic
Weather. For a meaning of terms unclear refer to Columbia Games ``Harnmaster''
publication. This tool assumes you are passingly familiar with the
rules and terms specified therein.
Use the form below to specify as much as you want.
Come back to the top and choose among the formats given. Everything
left blank will be randomly generated or set to a default value. Some
entries do not make much sense when they default, but that is your
option. Here are some more hints:
The FORM option below can be used to fine-tune
the output of the script. Otherwise passing the output back into
script can be considered a conversion into another format.
If you want an empty field, then enter a blank
space or a dash. This should give you what you want. Truely empty
fields will be randomly generated.
The left upper field shows temperature, the right
upper field is time in watch of an encounter (if any). The right
lower field shows wind condition, the lower right field gives places
where an encounter would occur (see below).
Encounters can occur in various environments
with various chances. Environment shorthand is: [U] Urban,
[R] Rural, [H] Highway, [W] Wilderness,
[S] Sealanes, [O] Ocean (called Open sea in the Harnmaster
rules). All assume a time tick of 1 watch. Multiple encounters per
watch are not supported. If you include spelled-out, lowercase
locations in paranthesis, encounters are restricted to these
environments.
The HTML and FORM output do not display daylight
and nighttime correctly. Instead, this is greyed out. True
daylight/nighttime is only available with FIG and PS output.
Be aware that the output for FIG and PS can be
rather longish, a bit less than 200k for FIG and a bit less 600k for
PS output. I'm working on making the PS part smaller, but the CGI
logo itself is 100k.
If you include the keywords ``inland'',
``sheltered'', or ``open'' in the location field in parenthesis, wind
force will be determined according to the ``Pilot Almanach''
rules.
For those that need the weather indices, you can
find them in all output files in comment form according to the format
comment marking. Look for a line containing
``Weather Indices:''.
Important Note: The output generated is subject to
the GPL (Gnu Public
License) as long as compliance with this license does not violate
rights held by Columbia Games Inc. or N. Robin Crossby.
